It's a wrap! - Barnaby at the 2016 Sydney Finders Keepers Market

Last weekend, Barnaby was once again honoured to rock Sydney’s Finders Keepers Market at the Australian Technology Park, Australia’s biggest Exhibition Hall. The three-day event was kicked off on Friday by our Sydney based Barnaby Team - Alexander, Christina and Sander - setting up the stand, celebrating the start of a great weekend to come and most importantly, getting ready for the 80,000+ people, eager to see what the market would have installed this year.

Excitement and enthusiasm emerged as we were all reflecting the success of last years' Finders Keepers Market. The event, that combines design, art, great food, live music and an amazing community spirit featuring 200+ independent art and design stalls. Founded in 2008, the market has evolved to be Australia's leading design market. Probably driven by the pronounced opportunity that is given to young talents, start-ups and entrepreneurs to present their products in a modern way, has contributed to the market's incredible fast growth. Not only local marketers but also small business representatives from all around Australia, food trucks serving delicious food and performances of the best DJs in town made this a unique event. We loved being among passionate and highly creative artists and working side-by-side with likeminded entrepreneurs. Also, it was marvellous to have a direct interaction with our customers. We are thankful for all the great feedback that we’ve received!

“We seek to encourage creativity, to connect, inspire and empower the creative community; this is always at the heart of what we do!” Finders Keepers Market

What was different at this year’s market?

Speaking in terms of coolness and modernisms, we did not expect that last years market could be topped. However, the team of the Finders Keepers Market taught us right, by not only offering a broader variety of stands but also allowing customers to find their way easier around by the introduction of a special and free of charge app called Beaconmaker. The app provided everyone with an easy navigation through the market and allowed to be find ones favourite stand in a convenient way.

Our top 3 brands at Finders Keepers

We were impressed by the variety of newcomers and amazing brands that were represented at this years market. Therefore, we put together a list of our three favourite brands that we think will be influential trends for the upcoming season.

  1. Orbit Key

ORBIT KEY was one of the brands that caught our attention immediately and stood out of the crowd. The award winning key organiser that eliminates key jingles, scratches and clutter, left visitors fascinated.

  1. Mulga The Artist

Under the name MULGA Joel Moore, a Sydney based artist, freelance illustrator and poet paints murals and designs t-shirts. His flamboyant art is inspiring on many levels and brings to life a world where tigers wear diamond sunglasses and gorillas rule.

  1. Huddle & Co

HUDDLE & CO an Australian brand from Wollongong, inspired us with its good quality, Australian made furniture and products. The love to details and the creative designs make this a unique Australian brand.

Finally, we are happy that many Barnaby socks have found a new, caring home and that we were able to increase our amazing Barnaby community! We can’t wait to “sock” the 2016 Finders Keepers market in Melbourne and hopefully we will see you all there!

The world is at your feet. Take the first step.

Love,
Barnaby
